Highlights Agroberichten Buitenland is de wekelijkse nieuwsbrief van het LNV Attaché Netwerk. U wordt iedere week geattendeerd op nieuws, activiteiten en achtergrondinformatie van onze LAN teams die werkzaam zijn op de economische clusters van 62 Nederlandse ambassades en/of consulaten en van daaruit 77 landen bedienen. Ook zijn ze vertegenwoordigers voor Nederland bij internationale organisaties: EU in Brussel, FAO/WFP/IFAD in Rome en OESO in Parijs. Deze week zijn in het buitenlandse netwerk van het ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselkwaliteit (LNV) twee nieuwe LNV-raden en een LNV-attaché benoemd op Nederlandse ambassades. Het betreft de regio Latijns-Amerika en de locaties Pretoria en Warschau. Deze personen zullen met ingang van zomer 2024 starten met hun nieuwe werkzaamheden.
Vanuit het ministerie van LNV en Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) wensen wij hen veel succes.
The Netherlands Agricultural Network (LAN) is happy to announce the launch of the 10th edition of the Agrospecial e-magazine ‘Efforts of the Netherlands in multilateral policy’. This digital magazine showcases the work of our colleagues at the Permanent Representations (PermReps) of the Netherlands to different multilateral organisations: the European Union in Brussels, OECD in Paris, the Food Organisations FAO/IFAD/WFP in Rome and WTO in Geneva. It explores the commitment of The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality in the Netherlands tackling major global challenges in agriculture, fisheries, and biodiversity.
New Agrospecial on the efforts of the Netherlands in multilateral policy
Sinds september 2023 is Kirsten Peeters werkzaam als LNV-raad voor Scandinavië vanuit de Nederlandse ambassade in Kopenhagen. Net als in Nederland zijn duurzaamheid en biodiversiteit daar belangrijke speerpunten in het landbouwbeleid. In Noorwegen en Zweden speelt bovendien dat de productie op een beperkt bruikbaar areaal, zo duurzaam mogelijk geoptimaliseerd wordt. ‘Iedereen snapt hier dat het anders moet, duurzamer.’

Biodiversity and soil health are critical for ensuring sustainable food production and resilient food systems, yet they are not always top of mind in policy-making. The Permanent Representation of the Netherlands in Rome organized a movie night with a screening of the Dutch documentary 'Planet Soil' to put the spotlight on what happens below our feet. The event was organized to highlight the start of the Netherlands as chair of the Group of Friends of Biodiversity in Rome.

Het recent gepubliceerde rapport van de Organisatie voor Economische Samenwerking en Ontwikkeling (OESO) werpt een licht op de rol van de agrarische sector in het bevorderen van een groenere en meer inclusieve toekomst voor Zuidoost-Azië. Het rapport 'Towards Greener and More Inclusive Societies in Southeast Asia', wijst onder andere op de mogelijkheden en uitdagingen van de agrarische sector op het gebied van duurzame ontwikkeling.

De Vlaamse landbouw heeft onmiskenbaar veel troeven: vruchtbare gronden, in principe een gunstig klimaat, hoge productiviteit, goede logistiek en infrastructuur, hoogstaand R&D, goede toegang tot lokale en internationale markten en een hoog opleidingsniveau. Desondanks staat de sector voor serieuze uitdagingen, zowel op bedrijfseconomisch gebied (lage inkomens in sommige deelsectoren, hoge grondprijzen), sociaal (vergrijzing, bedrijfsopvolging, dalend welzijn) als op het vlak van milieu (water, stikstof).

The Bulgarian Institute of Soil Science, Agrotechnologies and Plant Protection, Nikola Poushkarov, is ready to prepare an agroclimatic map of the country, which will show the suitability of individual areas for growing different agricultural crops. The project was presented on March 21st by Prof. Irena Atanasova, PhD, director of the Institute of Soil Science, during the first meeting of the Advisory Council on Mountain and Semi-Mountain Agriculture.

Op 25 april houden de Task Force Agrifood van DRN (Dutch Romanian Network) en Brightlands Venlo (regionaal samenwerkingsverband Greenport Venlo, Foodvalley Gelderland en Agrifoodcapital Den Bosch) een Agrifood expert meeting op de lokatie van Brightlands Venlo (voormalig Floriade terrein).
