Er is een schaarste aan sojabonen voor verwerking waardoor Bunge o.a. uit Uruguay moet importeren. Brazilië is 's werelds grootste producent van sojabonen, maar de verwerkende industrie heeft de afgelopen maanden de import versneld door een sterke export, die de voorraden heeft doen krimpen.
Om voedingsmiddelen voor mens en dier naar de VS te exporteren moet een bedrijf geregistreerd staan bij de Food and Drug Administration. De registratie is eenmalig maar moet wel tussen 1 oktober en 31 december van elk even jaar verplicht vernieuwd worden, dus nu ook weer in 2020.
