Het Verenigd Koninkrijk maakt een periode van verandering door, zegt Jojanne van Andel, inmiddels meer dan een half jaar werkzaam als LNV-attaché op de Nederlandse ambassade in Londen. Zo ondergaat de landbouw een belangrijke transformatie, waarbij traditionele gebiedsgebonden subsidies worden afgebouwd en plaatsmaken voor nieuwe regelingen die duurzaam en natuurvriendelijk landgebruik bevorderen. Nederland kan daarbij helpen, onder andere met hoogwaardige diensten en producten.

In Denemarken heeft een expertwerkgroep, in opdracht van de regering, drie modellen gepresenteerd voor een CO2e *-heffing met als doel de klimaat-uitstoot van de landbouw, anders dan door energie, te reduceren met 2,5 mln. ton  CO2e.

In de Nederlandse pers was al te lezen dat president Macron niet door de hele agrarische sector met open armen ontvangen werd op de grote publieksbeurs en dat hij zijn entree deed onder protest en boegeroep. Desondanks nam de Franse president de tijd om in gesprek te gaan over de problemen waar boeren mee geconfronteerd worden en deed hij een paar concrete uitspraken over maatregelen om de Franse boeren te beschermen.

Frankrijk heeft zijn nieuwe wolvenplan 2024-2029 na lang beraad uitgebracht, inclusief bijbehorende wetgeving. In principe geen grote veranderingen, maar toch de nodige zaken die het leven makkelijker moeten maken voor boeren en andere getroffen ondernemers: aanpassing van de manier van tellen van de wolven, versnelde procedures voor afgifte van toestemming tot schieten, vereenvoudiging van de technische en praktische voorwaarden om te mogen schieten op wolven.

The Polish government is working on a bill that would implement a deposit system for single-use plastic beverage bottles. The system is scheduled to start on January 1, 2025, but some industry groups have asked for it to be delayed by a year.

Since 2020, Poland has been a leader in the production of pumpkins in the EU. During the period 2014-2022 the cultivation area of pumpkins in Poland increased from 1.1 thousand ha to 8.9 thousand ha, according to Eurostat data.

In 2023, Polish entrepreneurs sold agri-food products abroad worth a record amount of 51.8 billion EUR (236 billion PLN), 8.1% higher than in the previous year, according to the Polish National Support Center for Agriculture (KOWR).
