Webinar Spring 2023

Reinoud Nuijten, Agricultural Counsellor in Ukraine

"One of the topics which is near and dear to my heart is education. That’s why I was so glad to have organized this morning’s Webinar on green education together with our partners from #UCAB and the Dutch #greenpact.

Together with our partners from #UCAB and the Dutch #greenpact. On the list of speakers were key stakeholders from the Dutch and Ukrainian green education sector, who were presenting the activities and ambitions for the future, with a keen eye on perspectives for cooperation. The current political circumstances were well described by Alex Lissitsa, who stated that the Ukrainian agriculture sector has been profoundly hit by the Russian full scale invasion, but this agression will end one day and when it does, Ukraine must be ready to rebuilt its sector on the principles of sustainable farming and it will need the knowledge and experience from partners such as the Netherlands. I felt there was a strong readiness and commitment from all participants to explore opportunities in this regard and am looking forward to facilitating further discussions, as I strongly believe in the synergies between the Dutch and Ukrainian agriculture sectors."

Alex Lissitsa, Preident UCAB:

"Ukrainian Agribusiness Club together with Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine organised an interesting and focusing on the post-war future event about the green education in Ukraine. I do believe that we should add the green education based on experiences from the Netherlands to our curricula in the ag high schools. The special focus should be on regenerative agriculture practices, as these practices have the potential to not only improve soil health and increase yields, but also to mitigate climate change and improve ecosystem health. Through green education in regenerative agriculture, farmers and other stakeholders can learn how to adopt sustainable and regenerative practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and resilience, while also increasing profitability and contributing to the global effort to combat climate change. Waiting for a new master program on regenerative ag. Who is going to be the first university in Ukraine? "
