De uitdagingen in het gebied van de Golfstaten (Saoedi-Arabië, de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten, Oman, Bahrein, Koeweit en Qatar) zijn enorm. Maar de ambities zijn ook groot, net als de beschikbare financiële middelen. LNV-raad Simone Landhuis, werkzaam vanuit de Nederlandse ambassade in Riyadh, wil dat Nederland gezien wordt als de logische partner voor kennis en technologie, duurzaamheid en biodiversiteit.

Voeding in de zorg is een onderwerp, waarover Nederland veel kennis in huis heeft. En deze kennis is klaar om te worden geëxporteerd. Omdat een deel van die kennis ook bij Nederlandse bedrijven ligt in de vorm van innovatieve voedingsconcepten, is er een pre-PPS (publiek private samenwerking) traject opgestart met als doel gezamenlijk de marktkansen in Vlaanderen te verkennen.

De Duitse regering heeft begin dit jaar haar eerste nationale voedingsstrategie gepubliceerd. De strategie bestaat uit veel ambities en wensen om goede voeding voor iedere Duitser bereikbaar te maken en te houden. Hoe wil de overheid zelf bijdragen aan de ambities om goed eten voor meer mensen bereikbaar te maken? En wat wordt er verstaan onder “goed eten”?

Op 13 februari organiseerde de Nederlandse ambassade in Parijs, in het kader van de Olympische Spelen die in 2024 in Parijs plaatsvinden, een debat over plantaardige voeding en topsport. Centrale vraag hierbij was: kan je Olympische medailles winnen op een plantaardig dieet? De consensus was dat dit in principe mogelijk is, mits sporters zeer nauw worden gemonitord, er een optimaal gepersonaliseerd dieet wordt samengesteld, en als laatste: als er persoonlijke motivatie is.

Companies interested in exhibiting their products at Greenhouse Horticulture & Plant Factory Exhibition/Conference (GPEC) 2024 have until March 31 2024 to submit their application form to the GPEC management office. GPEC 2024 will take place from July 24 to 26 2024 at Tokyo Big Sight. This biennial event, organized by the Japan Greenhouse Horticulture Association, is the largest trade show in Japan specializing in modern greenhouse and indoor farming technologies.

Dutch agri-food exports to South Korea showed a slight decline in 2023, with a total export value of EUR 622 million, a decrease of 8.9% compared to the previous year. It was the first time since 2016 that the exports decreased. Before 2023, it had grown by 20% annually on average. The economic recession impacted meat & dairy consumption and agri-food exports from the Netherlands to South Korea.

The successful introduction and adoption of the hybrid tropical shallot variety Maserati by Vietnamese shallot farmers in the Mekong delta is a crucial component of the impact cluster: “Transition towards sustainable shallot value chains in the Mekong Delta”. To demonstrate the added value of Maserati, over 15 demonstration fields with local farmers were established to collect data to quantify yield and other agronomical performance indicators of Maserati and to showcase the results to local shallot farmers.
