De belangrijkste beurs in Frankrijk op het gebied van plantaardige productie, de welbekende vakbeurs SIVAL, belooft in januari 2024 een succes te worden. Op deze beurs, die om het jaar georganiseerd wordt in Angers (West-Frankrijk), presenteert men aan een internationaal publiek de laatste ontwikkelingen op het gebied van tuinbouw en gewasinnovatie. Zoals bij iedere editie zijn Nederlandse bedrijven hier goed vertegenwoordigd. En dit jaar gaat de Frans-Nederlandse samenwerking weer een stapje verder.

Germany has embarked on an ambitious endeavor to rewet its 1.8 million hectares of drained peatland. The country recognizes the significance of restoring peatland to achieve its 2045 climate goals. To support this objective, comprehensive strategies and programs have been introduced. However, the impact of rewetting peatland on resident farmers poses one of the most significant challenges to German agriculture.

De handelsmissie heeft de Nederlandse bedrijven gebracht waar zij naar op zoek waren en ze waren verder overtuigd geraakt van de kansen op de Spaanse markt. Met deze handelsmissie draagt het LAN team in Spanje bij aan de Nederlandse inzet op het gebied van circulariteit en duurzaamheid en wordt innovatie op dit gebied gefaciliteerd.

Tussen 1985 en 2022 ging het percentage natuurlijke vegetatie in Brazilië van 75% naar 64%. Voor toekomstige ontwikkeling is het belangrijk om te weten waar de vegetatie verdween, waar herstel plaatsvond en welke functies het land nu heeft.

De overheid van Bangladesh heeft de laatste jaren veel gedaan om buitenlandse investeringen te stimuleren. Bangladesh produceert jaarlijks 16 miljoen ton groenten. Hiermee liggen er kansen op het gebied van bedekte teelt. Om die reden hebben de Nederlandse ambassade in Dhaka en RVO een marktstudie naar bedekte teelt in Bangladesh laten uitvoeren.

From November 26th to November 30th a horticulture trade mission to China will take place. A total of 19 Dutch companies and institutes will join the mission, headed by mr. Maybe unknown to many but shallot is one of the key vegetable crops in the Mekong Delta, generating one of the highest income contributions per m2 and month. One of the most important production areas for shallot in Vietnam, is Vinh Chau district in Soc Trang province in the Mekong Delta. Shallots are a crucial source of income for farmers and workers, who mostly belong to the Khmer ethnicity. Poverty incidence among the Khmer, are one of the highest in the Mekong Delta. For those Khmer who have been able to switch to shallot farming, this has been one of the few pathways to grow out of poverty. Just the shallot sector in Vinh Chau district created jobs for about 70,000 Khmer.
