Vietnam and the Netherlands working together towards a sustainable and climate smart aquaculture sector

Aquaculture Vietnam 2023 – the International Aquaculture Industry Exhibition in Vietnam is a comprehensive event that helps visitors access the entire aquaculture value chain from farming, catching to processing. In this event, the Netherlands pavilion, organized by the agriculture team of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam, hosted more than 10 Dutch companies showcasing their sustainable aquaculture innovations.

Expand business in the aquaculture industry

Co-located with the specialized livestock exhibition – Vietstock, Aquaculture Vietnam 2023 was the perfect destination for businesses operating in the aquaculture industry in Vietnam and the region. Enterprises grew and expanded their businesses with many new opportunities by directly connecting to leading aquaculture businesses, experts, and leaders; displaying and promoting products directly to more than 11,000 visitors in the industries; shortening production and sales cycles through new connected apps; updating market trends in Vietnam and the world; and improving industry knowledge at academic seminars.

Netherlands Pavilion received “Sustainable Booth Design” award

The Netherlands Pavilion won the “Sustainable Booth Design” Award

Among over 350 exhibitors, the Netherlands Pavilion was honored to receive the “Sustainable Booth Design” Award. One special feature about the Netherlands Pavilion at Aquaculture Vietnam was that the booth is constructed by utilizing environmentally friendly and locally sourced materials for repeated uses, demonstrating the Netherlands’ sustainable approach and innovative industrial solutions. The core pillars of the booth is made from bamboo – an iconic material of Vietnam which are found almost everywhere in the country, used for various purposes and products, and symbolizes the vitality in Vietnamese culture.

Dutch businesses showcasing sustainable aquaculture innovations

At Aquaculture Vietnam 2023, the Netherlands pavilion hosted more than Dutch companies showcasing their aquaculture innovations at the exhibition. They are:

Shrimptech Vietnam – an impact cluster of Netherland – Vietnam Public – Private Partnership with goal to enable Vietnamese shrimp farmers in the Mekong Delta to increase their production in a sustainable manner, by conducting research, offering alternatives for antibiotics and wastewater treatment, trails demonstration, pilots and training on sustainable yet profitable aquaculture, farming with nature, use of new technology and the establishment of a local value chain. The complementary partners of this consortium are: Agriterra, Delta Farms , TipTopp Aquaculture B.V., Rynan Aquaculture, Shrimpvet, Skretting, Larive International and Openasia .

Fresh Studio is a food consulting company, assisting clients with every aspect of their food provision, inspiring their clients with refreshing insights into their sourcing, quality assurance and marketing opportunities.

De Heus Vietnam, a part of the Dutch Royal De Heus Group, has been officially operating in Vietnam since 2008, has 17 production plants and a nationwide depot system. They produce a wide range of animal feeds.

The Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD) is a climate resilience fund, dedicated to supporting climate adaptation projects which benefit vulnerable communities and landscapes, funded by the Dutch government and powered by a consortium of expert organization.

International Aquaculture Conference

Besides the exhibition, a vast exchange of information and expertise was shared to participants in a series of technical seminars and International Aquaculture Vietnam Conference, with the theme “Overcome crisis toward to prosperous achievements”, organized by the Vietnam Fisheries Society (VINAFIS) and The International Collaborating Centre For Aquaculture And Fisheries Sustainability (ICAFIS), with the support of the Netherlands Embassy in Vietnam.

Many insights, experiences, ideas and priceless industry knowledge across a wide range of aquaculture industry perspectives were shared among renowned experts, association, government and academia. The conference brough in-depth and diverse content, opening up many new approaches and solutions for the aquaculture industry of Vietnam. The topics discussed included: Environment and diseases, Market trend of aquaculture products, Quality seed and hatchery technology, and Feeds, feeding strategy and Grow out.
