Ukraine launches safeguard investigation on certain types of cheese

The InterDepartmental Commission for Foreign Trade of Ukraine has published its decision to launch a special (safeguard) proceeding concerning imports to Ukraine of certain types of cheese irrespective of the country of origin.

This special investigation was initiated in responce to the claim filed by the Association "Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine" on behalf of Yagotinsky Dairy, Pyriatyn Cheese Factory, TERRAFOOD, Cheese Club, Dubnomoloko, LUSTDORF, Dairy Company Galychyna, Ternopil Dairy Plant, Starokostiantynivsky Dairy Plant, Prydniprovsky Integrated Plant, YURIA, Pervomaisky Dairy and Canning Plant, Ichnyansky Dairy and Canning Plant, Kupyansk Dairy and Canning Plant, with the support of Bashtansky cheese factory, branches of Yagotinsky butter factory, Yagotynske for children, Lubensky Dairy Plant, FAVOR, Derazhnyansky Dairy Plant, Givaldis, SVITLOVODSKY Butter and Cheese Plant, Organic Milk, and Radyvylivmoloko.

The product under investigation has the following description: certain types of cheese which are classified in accordance with UKTZED  under codes 0406 30 31 00, 0406 30 39 00, 0406 30 90 00, 0406 90 23 00, 0406 90 25 00, 0406 90 32 00, 0406 90 78 00, 0406 90 86 00, 0406 90 89 00, 0406 90 92 00, 0406 90 99 10.

The investigation will be conducted by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

Should the investigation concern the interests of any individuals and companies, they are entitled to send the information which may be useful for the investigation to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. Such information will be taken into account only if it is confirmed by evidence, provided in the state language (Ukrainian), and within the established terms.

Within 30 days upon publication of this notification, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine will be registering the interested parties of this investigation and examining hearing requests.

Within 45 days upon publication of this notification, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine will be examining written comments and information as regards initiation of the above investigation.
