The LAN office in the Western Balkan and the Netherlands Embassy in Sarajevo commissioned a market study on the poultry sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Summary of the study
The study provides a comprehensive overview of the country’s poultry meat and egg production, highlighting its rapid growth, modernization, and increasing export potential.
It identifies both the sector’s strengths, for instance in vertical integration and high production efficiency as well as its key challenges, such as its reliance on imported feed, reproductive material and the need to further align with EU standards in the field of sustainability, animal welfare and animal health.
The report highlights sustainable business opportunities for Dutch companies active in the poultry sector and proposes an entry strategy for the positioning of Dutch expertise in the Bosnian market.
