"Uzbekcosmos," in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission, is developing a satellite-based drought monitoring system for Central Asian countries, the space agency's press service reported.
Earth remote sensing (ERS) data will be used to assess the condition of water bodies, soil, and vegetation. The system is planned to include a real-time drought monitoring module and cloud-based crop surveillance.
Satellite data will aid in managing water resources and improve decision-making in agriculture and the fight against environmental risks. The system will be adapted for use throughout the Central Asian region. In addition to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan also plan to use the remote sensing data.
