Aidarbek Saparov, Minister of Agriculture, during a working visit to Italy, participated in the 44th session of the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and held a series of bilateral meetings, including negotiations with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu and representatives of the organization’s member countries.

The Minister presented the priority areas of Kazakhstan’s agricultural policy in sustainable and innovative agriculture, highlighting four key blocks.

In particular, within the framework of digitalizing the agricultural sector, digital maps of agricultural lands covering an area of over 200 million hectares have been created. Technologies for monitoring and data analysis are actively developing. An automated insurance system against adverse weather conditions has been implemented.

Specific measures have been taken to renew agricultural machinery: the government stimulates the renewal of equipment fleets through leasing programs. Farmers are increasingly adopting machines equipped with artificial intelligence and agromonitoring systems, which contributes to productivity growth.

Proposal of creating a regional FAO platform on agro-innovations in Central Asia

The area of application of moisture-saving technologies has reached 470.1 thousand hectares. Investment subsidies and tariffs that encourage water conservation are being developed. Carbon farming approaches are being promoted, and work is underway on the Law “On Soil Protection.” Agricultural science is developing: NANOС coordinates 27 scientific and technical programs. An educational online portal for farmers has been created, and seminars and field demonstrations are regularly held.

Aidarbek Saparov proposed considering the possibility of creating a regional FAO platform on agro-innovations in Central Asia. Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to act as a pilot country for the implementation of advanced solutions.

During the Minister’s meeting with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, current and prospective areas of cooperation were discussed, including sustainable agricultural development, combating land degradation, and increasing the productivity of the agricultural sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Aidarbek Saparov expressed gratitude to the FAO leadership for the constructive dialogue and emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to further deepening cooperation.
