With both energy security and sustainability becoming more important, countries in Central and Eastern Europe are looking to diversify and green their energy supply. Hungary and Serbia are no exception in that regard, both being highly dependent on a single source of supply for gas. Not in the least because of  the availability of suitable (agricultural) waste, biogas and biomethane are coming more and more into the strategic focus as viable alternatives.

To learn more about potential market opportunities for Dutch entrepreneurs active in the biogas sector, the Embassies of the Netherlands in Hungary and Serbia will organise a two day fact-finding mission to both countries, taking place February 6-7, 2024. The programme of the fact-finding mission would allow companies to gain a deeper understanding of opportunities and will include:

  • Meetings with key stakeholders in the biogas sectors in Hungary and Serbia, including the Ministries of Energy, regulatory bodies and the national biogas associations;
  • Company visits to biogas plants to get an idea about the state of technology;
  • Networking receptions with potential partners and business leads from the agricultural, hospitality, waste collection and food retail sectors, amongst others.

Participation in the fact-finding mission is free. Participants would however have to cover their own flight and accommodation costs.

For more information about the program and registration, please contact BEL-EA@minbuza.nl by January 12, 2024 latest. Biogas sector studies for both Hungary and Serbia are available upon request.
