The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is undergoing a significant transformation in agrifood logistics and cold chain infrastructure, driven by national food security strategies, technological advancements and increasing consumer demand for fresh produce, dairy, seafood and chilled and frozen meat. With governments investing in sustainable food production, advanced logistics and climate-resilient storage, the region presents vast opportunities for Dutch companies specializing in post-harvest solutions, cold chain logistics and supply chain optimization.

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia nature-inclusive, or regenerative agriculture is considered a sustainable way to increase food security. In its reform agenda named Vision2030, the country has formulated important plans on how to increase the use of technology, promote organic farming and increase the use of water-saving methods. Food security is a priority in all the Gulf countries and sustainable agriculture has gained enormous attention. Yet, it is still in its early stages of development and needs Dutch expertise in the fields of horticulture, poultry, aquaculture, and agri-logistics.

De 34 miljoen inwoners van Saoedi-Arabië verspillen maar liefst €9 miljard aan voedsel op jaarbasis. Voor de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten (VAE) ligt dit bedrag op €2,1 miljard op een bevolking van bijna 10 miljoen. Deze bijdrage maakt deel uit van de Agrospecial Mondiale aanpak van voedselverliezen.
