Agriculture in Lviv
On 1-2 November 2018 the Economic forum was held in Lviv. During the forum an agricultural session was organized. The honorary consul together with the embassy organized an event for Dutch business to share the results of the western Ukraine study. Finally, the agricultural counsellor visited logistics company E. van Wijk.
Lviv is in most lists on top when it comes to doing business, (international) investment and transparancy. Besides agriculture, sectors such as logistics and IT are well represented. Lviv is strategically positioned in western Ukraine, close to the European Union border and has an international airport.
Agricultural session
During the agricultural session, current state and opportunities in agriculture were discussed, with both local and (inter)national experts. In 2017 the agricultural export from Lviv oblast was $423,4 mln, while for the country this was approx $20 bln. Export consists mainly of ready to eat products as well as plantbased products. These plantbased products consist mainly of grains and (oil)seeds.
Dutch business event
In the framework of the Economic forum, honorary consul Andriy Hrynchuk together with the embassy represented by Ambassador Ed Hoeks, deputy head of the economic cluster Djeyhoun Ostowar and Agricultural Counsellor Carolien Spaans, organized an event for Dutch business in Lviv.
Study western Ukraine
During the event for Dutch business a presentation was given about the recently presented study about potential of western Ukraine. The study focuses not only on agricultural but also on other economic sectors and looks into the opportunities for cooperation between Dutch and Ukrainian business. Read more about the study here
Logistics company E. van Wijk
During the trip to Lviv, the agricultural counsellor also visited logistics company E. van Wijk. The company has a logistical centre and warehouse in Lviv since 2004. The company does export, import as well as transport within Ukraine. We would like to congratulate the company with its 70th birthday in The Netherlands this year and hope this age will be reached in Ukraine as well.
