Highlights Agroberichten Buitenland is de wekelijkse nieuwsbrief van het Landbouwattachénetwerk. U wordt iedere week geattendeerd op nieuws, activiteiten en achtergrondinformatie van onze landbouwteams die werkzaam zijn op de economische afdelingen van 60 Nederlandse ambassades en/of consulaten en van daaruit 80 landen bedienen. EUROPE - Bulgaria: Dutch horticultural visit for bilateral cooperation

Dutch golden triangle (business-knowledge institutes-government) visited Bulgaria in April to explore and expand opportunities for bilateral cooperation in horticulture. The visit was a follow-up of the Dutch horticultural mission from October 2022. The group met with representatives of Bulgarian fruit and vegetable producers and other agri-businesses, government, non-governmental organizations and knowledge institutions.

- Frankrijk: nieuw systeem van brede weersverzekering moet zichzelf gaan waarmaken

Frankrijk voert dit jaar een nieuw systeem van brede weersverzekering in. Dit moet het veel aantrekkelijker maken voor boeren om een weersverzekering af te sluiten. Toch zijn de doelstellingen relatief bescheiden, door verwachte terughoudendheid bij boeren. Verdubbeling van de verzekerde oppervlakte is vooralsnog het doel.

- Frankrijk: planmatige aanpak reductie gebruik van gewasbeschermingsmiddelen

Frankrijk heeft recentelijk de koers bijgesteld als het gaat om het uit de handel nemen van werkzame stoffen voor gewasbescherming. Waar het eerder voorop liep in Europa, wil Frankrijk nu meegaan met de besluiten die door de Europese Commissie worden genomen op dit gebied. Ook is besloten te anticiperen op deze stappen door de ontwikkeling van alternatieve oplossingen proactief en planmatig aan te pakken.

- Romania: fewer animals in pig and cow farms

Romania recorded a decline in the number of pigs and cattle last year compared to 2021, by 7.8% and 0.7% respectively, while the number of sheep and goats increased by 1% and the number of poultry by 1.5%, data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) show.

- Ukraine: approving list of alien tree species prohibited in reproduction of forests

"Three million hectares of forests in Ukraine were damaged by Russian aggression and need to be restored. The approval of the List of Invasive Species is a historic environmental step that will allow to restore climate-resistant forests with high protective properties and without aggressive alien species in Ukraine," said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ruslan Strilets.

AMERICAS - Mexico: Business Support Programme, toegangspoort tot de lokale markt

Wilt u zakendoen in Mexico en heeft u daarbij hulp nodig? Dit programma biedt ondersteuning en begeleiding aan Nederlandse mkb-bedrijven die de Mexicaanse markt willen betreden. Het is een intensief programma van 4 tot 6 maanden, dat loopt van half juni tot eind oktober 2023.

ASIA - China: Netherlands Pavilion and Forum in 25th HortiflorExpo IPM Shanghai 2023

This April, the 25th HortiflorExpo IPM China was successfully held in Shanghai. HortiflorExpo IPM is Asia's leading brand exhibition of flowers, horticulture and gardening industries. In this context also a China-Netherlands Facility Agriculture Seminar was organised.

- Japan: taking steps to ensure food security

Japan is taking steps to ensure food security by reviewing laws and considering a task force for farmers to switch to food crops during potential crises. Kobe City plans to increase recycled sewage sludge production to become self-sufficient in phosphorus, while the Agriculture Ministry explores the use of AI and robotics in various agricultural applications. Additionally, the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization aims to boost natural predators by controlling symbiotic micro-organisms. Read more in this montly briefing of Japan.
