A training mission is currently being held in Astana as part of the European Union’s BTSF programme (Better Training for Safer Food), aimed at enhancing the professional qualifications of specialists in food and feed safety, as well as animal health and welfare, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.

According to the ministry, the training is aimed at representatives of the veterinary service, fisheries and aquaculture sectors, as well as honey producers. It focuses on explaining European Union requirements for the production, control, and export of the relevant products.
“The training mission is an important step towards improving the national veterinary and sanitary control system in line with EU requirements and expanding Kazakhstan’s export opportunities. In particular, the training contributes to creating the necessary conditions for obtaining authorization to export Kazakh honey and aquaculture products to the European Union market. Participants include representatives of district and regional territorial inspectorates, the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision, laboratory services, the Fisheries Committee, as well as business operators engaged in the production of honey and aquaculture products,” the Ministry of Agriculture explained, adding that the programme includes theoretical and practical sessions with the participation of European experts.
The programme also includes field visits to honey and aquaculture production facilities in the Akmola and East Kazakhstan regions. There, participants will be familiarized with EU requirements concerning product safety controls, veterinary supervision, production processes, and traceability.
