Digital technologies are playing an increasingly important role in the modernization of Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector. From precision farming tools to artificial intelligence and satellite monitoring, innovative solutions are helping farmers improve productivity and resource management.

These developments were highlighted during the Field Day 2026 seminar, held at the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing. The event brought together agricultural experts, researchers, and government representatives to discuss the growing impact of digitalization on farming.

Visitors explored demonstration fields showcasing new crop varieties, advanced irrigation systems, and precision agriculture technologies. Particular attention was given to drone applications, soil-monitoring sensors, and digital platforms that provide real-time information on crop conditions.

Digitalization as a strategic priority

Speaking at the event, Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov emphasized that digitalization remains a strategic priority for the country. He noted that modern agriculture increasingly depends on the integration of scientific research and digital tools to improve efficiency, adapt to climate challenges, and strengthen food security.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, more than 650 agricultural enterprises in Kazakhstan already use digital technologies. Farmers are adopting GPS-guided machinery, electronic field mapping, satellite-based crop monitoring, and automated management systems to support decision-making and increase yields.

Digital transformation is also advancing in livestock farming through electronic animal identification and digital herd management systems. These technologies help improve productivity and streamline farm operations.

Government's support

The government continues to encourage innovation through support measures, including subsidies for agricultural equipment equipped with digital control systems and unmanned aerial vehicles. Experts at the forum stressed that closer cooperation between science, business, and government will be essential for accelerating technological adoption across the sector.

As climate pressures and market demands continue to grow, digital solutions are becoming a key driver of sustainable agricultural development in Kazakhstan.
