In the current year, Kazakhstan plans to apply 2.3 million tonnes of mineral fertilisers to agricultural fields. In 2025, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, 1.8 million tonnes were applied.
Preparations for the 2026 sowing campaign were reviewed at a government meeting chaired by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin.
Key decisions include the timely purchase and use of 2.3 million tonnes of fertilisers, and the preparation of detailed sowing plans covering agrotechnologies, irrigation methods, and water needs.
Farmers are actively using state support: since October 2025, 1,694 loan applications worth 241 billion tenge have been submitted, with 1,520 producers already financed for 180 billion tenge. Most applications come from Turkestan, Akmola, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Karaganda regions.
Demand for subsidised diesel fuel is rising. Nearly 18,000 applications for 454,300 tonnes have been approved—8,800 tonnes more than last year. Fuel deliveries will start in February, with preferential prices to be set shortly.
Seed readiness is also strong: of 1.5 million tonnes of spring crop seeds tested, 98.1% meet top sowing standards, ensuring high-quality planting material for the season ahead.
