The second edition of Orange Farm was held under the high patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, Dr. Mabouba Diagne, in the presence of Mr. Jasper Spikker, Chief Executive Officer of Agriterra, along with many Dutch business leaders, technical and financial partners, and guests who gathered to celebrate this flagship agricultural cooperation initiative.
A day dedicated to expertise and partnerships
La Ferme Orange is much more than a simple exhibition space: it is a showcase for innovation, a meeting place between Dutch companies and local stakeholders committed to developing horticulture in Senegal. The main theme of this second edition focused on environmental sustainability. Special attention was given to sustainable inputs and technologies that promote environmentally friendly horticulture.
Building on the success of the first edition, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Senegal once again opened its doors to 17 Dutch companies and their local representatives to:
- stimulate business opportunities,
- promote technical exchanges, and
- support sustainable agriculture through innovative solutions.
Agriculture remains one of the key drivers of the Senegalese economy. Beyond its role in food security, it contributes to employment, territorial development, and resilience to climate change. It is with this perspective that the Netherlands reaffirms its commitment to sharing its agricultural expertise by supporting Senegalese stakeholders in their transition toward more sustainable farming systems.
Launch of a new catalogue
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Catalogue of Sustainable Inputs for Horticulture in West Africa, developed in partnership with the Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP). This catalogue showcases concrete solutions to improve soil fertility, reduce emissions, and sustainably increase yields.

Formalized support for agricultural cooperatives
La Ferme Orange was also an opportunity to reaffirm the Netherlands’ strong interest in the priority programs of Senegal’s new National Food Sovereignty Strategy, particularly the Community Agricultural Cooperatives Program.
In this context, the Dutch NGO Agriterra will play a major role in supporting the structuring, governance, and economic performance of farmers’ organizations. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Agriterra and the Ministry of Agriculture to support a pilot project within the Diender cooperative, marking an important step in strengthening capacities in rural areas.

A rich day for our bilateral cooperation in agriculture
Throughout the day, nearly 200 participants – compared to circa 150 last year – attended information sessions, visited exhibitors’ stands, and discovered a wide range of innovations, including:
- improved seeds,
- modern irrigation systems,
- organic fertilizers and plant protection products,
- agricultural equipment adapted to local realities.
La Ferme Orange has now established itself as an essential platform for collaboration between Senegal and the Netherlands. Thanks to the commitment of companies, institutions, and all partners involved, this edition helped strengthen ties, explore new opportunities, and move collectively toward a more sustainable agricultural future.
