Agricultural Counsellor speaking at WAAM seminar
One of the highlights during the KISTOCK was the seminar organized by WAAM (Wageningen Agriculture Advanced Masterclass). The program opened with a congratulatory address by the Agricultural Counsellor, who underlined the importance of WAAM and stressed the need for strong cooperation between the Netherlands and Korea in advancing sustainable livestock farming. The Agricultural Advisor followed with an introduction to Dutch agricultural development, offering Korean farmers insights into how the Netherlands has embraced innovation to enhance productivity and sustainability.
The seminar also featured an inspiring keynote by Dr. Robert Hoste of Wageningen University & Research (WUR). In his presentation on smart livestock farming, Dr. Hoste highlighted that “the future is already here” and emphasized that adopting innovative technologies is ultimately the choice of farmers themselves. His remarks encouraged Korean participants to view smart farming not only as a technological shift but also as an opportunity for transformation and competitiveness.
Although modest in scale, the seminar proved highly fruitful, fostering meaningful dialogue and leaving a strong impression on Korean farmers eager to explore the next steps toward smart livestock farming.
Positive outcomes
The participation of the Netherlands at KISTOCK proved to be a success. The Pavilion not only gave visibility to Dutch agritech companies but also demonstrated concrete pathways for Korea’s transition toward smart livestock farming. Farmers expressed strong interest in the technologies presented, and several conversations have already opened doors for further cooperation and potential partnerships.
Looking ahead
For the Netherlands, KISTOCK 2025 was more than just an expo – it was an opportunity to reaffirm the Netherlands’ position as a partner in innovation. By showcasing sustainable and future-proof solutions, the LAN team and Dutch companies helped build momentum for Korea’s livestock sector to embrace smart farming practices.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Seoul will continue to facilitate knowledge sharing and partnerships that connect Dutch expertise with Korean ambitions in livestock farming.
