Romania and the Netherlands: joint event on solutions for a resilient agri-food sector
On April 29, 2025, the second edition of the conference “The Future of Agri-food Production” will take place in Iasi, this time having as central theme “Dutch-Romanian climate-smart agricultural solutions” for more resilient agri-food systems.
The half a day event (9:30-13:30 hrs) is organised by the LAN-Bucharest team in cooperation with the Honorary Consulate in Iasi and the University of Life Science of Iasi (USV Iasi) which is also the host of the event.
We are convinced that only by joining efforts and exchanging experiences and knowledge we can succeed in making European agri-food systems more sustainable and more resilient to all current and future challenges.
The excellent line-up of speakers and the very actual topics selected are the perfect ingredients for an interesting event. Among the mix of Dutch and Romanian speakers, we can mention: Ambassador Willemijn van Haaften, USV Iasi Rector Gerard Jitareanu & professors, Romanian Farmers Club chairman Florin Stegariu, LVVN Ministry representatives Sabine Pronk and Sophie Neve, Christian de Kleijn of Aeres University of Applied Sciences, Marius Velea of Holland Farming (including Memon and Rijk Zwaan), Teofil Dascalu, of Frizon Group, Peter de Boer of DN Agrar, Harmen Wollerich of CropX and Teodor Radu of ALCEDO, Stefan Heesakkers of VGB Watertechniek, Mark Reinders of Hempflax, Liviu Balanici of Panifcom, Mihai Vieru of Biocomp and more. All skilfully moderated by Amalia Georgescu, NL Honorary Consul for the North-Eastern region of Romania.
The variety of topics are centred around the fight against and adaptation to climate changes, from a policy point of view, an education & research perspective, as well as from the company level viewpoint.
All in all, it is a dense programme, inspirational and practical, certainly worth attending – in person (recommended, as there is also an expo area organised within USV Iasi) or online, when time and distance are a strong impediment.
Information about joining online shall be sent in due time (before the event) to interested participants. Therefore, should you be interested in watching the conference online, please send us a message to BKR-LVVN@minbuza.nl or follow the event social media posts. NOTE: There is a 1 hour difference between NL and RO (9:30 RO time is 8:30 NL time).
