A weekly summary of agriculture development and production in Vietnam by VietLinh online.

Livestock:

The CPV FOOD chicken processing for export complex project has an investment capital of $250 million. The factory complex has a design capacity of up to 100 million of chicken/year. This is the first closed-chain chicken processing complex project of Vietnam with the largest scale in Southeast Asia.

CPV FOOD Binh Phuoc started its operation and exported the first shipment of chicken in 2020, bringing Vietnam into the group of major poultry-producing countries in the world.

The project built a closed complex consisting of 1 animal feed factory, 5 broodstock chicken farms, 1 egg incubation factory, 24 broiler farms and 1 chicken slaughter-processing factory.

Plantation:

Recently, Dak Song District, Dak Nong Province has implemented many solutions to develop the pepper industry in a sustainable direction. In particular, the organic and safe production of pepper is encouraged to develop by authorities and agencies of Dak Song District.

Typically, Hoang Nguyen Organic Agriculture Service and Trading Co-operative has 25 members participating in the production of organic pepper on an area of nearly 50 hectares.

Compared to traditional pepper production, organic pepper production offers many benefits to members. The rate of pepper dying from epidemics has decreased, creating higher yield of good-quality products for domestic and export consumption. The price of pepper sold by members of the co-operative is almost double that of the market.

Fruits:

In Ben Tre Province, after nearly 1 year of applying intensive farming techniques to improve the yield and quality of coconut along with pest management process, local coconut yield reaches an average of 30,404 fruits/hectare/year. Compared with the average yield, the output of orchard without intensive farming techniques is only at 28,000 fruits/hectare/year. Applying intensive farming techniques creates an increase in output of 2,404 fruits/hectare/year, or 8.58%.

Comparing profit per each hectare, the model has a selling price of VND4,110/fruit. Households without intensive farming techniques only has a selling price of VND3,750/fruit. The profit obtained with coconut intensive farming model is over VND87.25 million compared to the control garden (only at VND68.45 million). The difference is VND18.8 million, about 27.48%.

Farmers, Agriculture, Countryside:

Up to now, Hau Giang Province has 34,679 economic efficient production models widely applied by farmers. Of which, 22,335 models bring an income from VND50-100 million/hectare/year.  There are also 12,344 income models bringing VND100 million/hectare/year, and some households earn a revenue of VND1-2 billion/hectare/year. The average revenue per unit of land of these economic efficient production models is about VND92,6 million/hectare/year, with a profit of over 30%.

In agricultural production, to form specialized farming areas, build trademarks, certifications for key agricultural products are important factors leading to the high economic values that these products will bring to farmers’ income.

Living and Environment:

Unlike many other coastal villages facing difficulties after typhoons, Ngu My Thanh in Quang Loi Commune, Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province, still has its agriculture production developed thanks to the plentiful resources after natural disasters, along with forests preventing floods around the coastal and lagoon areas.

From 2016 until now, through different projects, 45 hectares of mangrove forests have been planted over a length of about 10 kilometers in local coastal areas. Many sections of the forests are planted with a thickness of 40-50 meters. Mangrove forests have reduced the intensity of waves and winds when coming from the coast to the mainland.

Mangrove forests also contribute to the protection of the dykes from big waves causing landslides. Therefore, local, nearby houses and agriculture production are protected after floods and typhoons.

Pet, Flowers and Ornamental Plants:

These days in Da Nang City, florists are taking care of flowers and ornamental plants to prepare for the Lunar New Year. With florists in Da Nang, they face many difficulties this year due to consecutive natural disasters.

The Lunar New Year flowers are the main crop of the year, bringing a great source of income to florists in the city. At this time last year, many traders from the province have come to order flowers. Yet, this year, no traders have come to pre-order flowers.

According to local authority, Da Nang City has about 2,000 hectares of land growing flowers of all kinds, but the area of flowers planted for sale in the Lunar New Year 2021 has decreased from 20% to 30%.
