Plantation:

Quang Tri Province currently has 2,525 hectares of pepper. Due to the impact of the last long floods, more than 200 hectares were inundated.

Inundated pepper areas show signs leaves of falling off, or dead pepper trees at the rate of 15 - 20%, even 30 - 40% in some places. Many gardens observe 100% dead rate in farmed pepper trees. Pepper trees might continue to die if there is no timely technical intervention measures.

Up to now, most of the affected pepper areas have been intervened by farmers to prevent diseases according to the technical guidance of authorities and agencies.

With radical and long-term solutions, pepper gardens affected by floods is hoped to be gradually recovered and fully restored, allowing them to be harvested again. Farmers can also have a chance to reinvest and redevelop pepper production.

Fruit is a potential commodity for Vietnam's agricultural export. According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export value of vegetables and fruits in the first 11 months of 2020 reached $3.01 billion.
