"Ukraine has taken obligation to implement in the national legislation almost three hundred EU acts in such fields as food and feed safety, animal health and welfare, plant health, and state control in these areas. We have now completed 52% of this task. At the same time, it is expected that significant part of the remaining SPS commitments will be fulfilled this year, ” said Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture,  Serhiy Glushchenko during online conference.  He noted that within the framework of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement,  draft law “On Veterinary Medicine and Animal Welfare” was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. It foresees implementation of the requirements of the 10 documents of the EU legislation.

In addition, draft laws "On requirements for items and materials in contact with food", "On plant protection", "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine on food and other objects of sanitary measures" were prepared. These bills are planned to be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the coming weeks.

By 2021 Ukraine plans to implement more than 250 EU acts in the national legislation in such areas as state control in the financial reporting system, food and feed safety, animal health and welfare, plant health, etc. The adaptation plan includes a total of 1943 measures, of which the SPS is 12%.
