IPPE 2024 features Dutch efficiency combined with sustainability
From January 30-31, the International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) took place at the Georgia World Congress Center in the vibrant city of Atlanta. The IPPE is the world's largest annual poultry, meat and food industry event of its kind. This Expo is one of the 25 largest trade shows in the United States.
2024 IPPE Sets New Records
The 2024 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE) had 1,432 exhibitors covering 620,850 square feet of exhibit space, setting two new records. IPPE is sponsored by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, American Feed Industry Association and the Meat Institute.
The show had 31,353 registered attendees from the poultry and egg, meat and animal food industries. There were 9,063 international visitors, a third new record, from 133 countries represented at IPPE. The largest group from a single country outside the U.S. was Canada, with 14.9% of registered attendees. As in previous years, Latin America had the strongest international presence, representing 45% of international visitors. The Dutch sector was also well represented.
Dutch efficiency combined with sustainability
Dutch companies are actively involved in sustainable new developments. They are developing high-quality sustainable solutions to preserve the environment while lowering costs, and reducing the usage of chemicals, energy and water. Visitors were introduced to several designs for poultry houses and nesting spaces, with a variety in slatted flooring in order to provide good grip and clean environments for the birds as well as promoting the health and welfare of the chickens. In addition, technologies for poultry production were on display, ranging from maximizing capacities of parent stocks and genetics in order to meet the highest biosecurity and hygiene standards, to using biomarkers to limit unnecessary chick culling.
Chicken consumption
Chicken continues to be a very popular food in the US. This was also reflected by the number of chicken wings that were consumed during Super Bowl Sunday in February. It is estimated that during this year's football game day over 1.45 billion chicken wings were enjoyed.
