About the Agricultural Department in Tanzania

Since August 2017, Ingrid Korving is operating as the Agricultural Counselor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nairobi; where her working area includes both Kenya and Tanzania. For more information on the team in Kenya, please see their website.

The Agricultural department and our colleagues at the Embassy are here to stimulate trade and investment between Tanzania and the Netherlands in the Agricultural Sector and strengthen value chains by working together closely with Tanzanian Institutions and the Tanzanian Private Sector. Building and fostering partnerships between Tanzanian and Dutch businesses & government is key to the vision of the agriculture team. Our portfolio is therefore as diverse as the activities of the Dutch Private Sector in this country.

What we do

Reflecting the key interests of Dutch businesses in Tanzania, the agriculture team assists activities in different value chains in Tanzania. Key areas of interest are the horticulture, the potato, the aquaculture, the diary and livestock value chains. The Agricultural Counselor is responsible for increasing market access, knowledge and innovation; creating an enabling business environment by government to government dialogues (G2G); matchmaking between companies; trade promotion activities such as trade fairs & missions;  connecting companies to existing financial instruments provided by the government of the Netherlands; answering trade related questions; and monitoring wildlife crime.

The team can assist you with finding the right instrument for your idea and give you advice for your application. We also try to share all information on upcoming activities, trends & developments and studies done on this website. If you would like to receive updates (newsletter) or if you have any questions on the agriculture sector in Tanzania and how the team can be of assistance to you, kindly send an e-mail to dar-lnv@minbuza.nl.

Working together closely with the agriculture department in Nairobi, the team is here to support your business and answer your questions.

The Team

Ingrid Korving – Agriculture Counselor

Starting in August 2017, I am currently working as the Agricultural Counsellor for Kenya and Tanzania at the Netherlands Embassy in Nairobi. Before starting as an Agricultural Counselor, I worked as the regional coordinator for Africa at the Ministry of Economic Affairs in The Hague. My fascination for Africa started already at a young age and still keeps me motivated every day.
Please feel free to contact the Agri-Team with any questions. Kwaheri!

Theo Mutabingwa- Agriculture Advisor

Joining the Netherlands Embassy in February 2018, I am currently the agricultural policy officer for Tanzania in Dar es Salaam. Previously working as the country project coordinator for a private company supported by the Dutch government in the livestock and meat sector, I know the importance of linking Dutch and Tanzanian businesses together first hand. At the Embassy, I promote trade and work on fostering relationships between Dutch and Tanzanian partners. Locally, I keep close contact with both private agribusinesses and the Government of Tanzania to discover areas for possible collaborations as a way to support the national industrialization agenda and Dutch Business.

Manou Aelmans- Agricultural Officer

Since August 2015, I am the agricultural officer for the agricultural department in Nairobi & Dar es Salaam. Previously, I worked for NCDO where I assisted social entrepreneurs who wanted to start a business in an upcoming economy. I fulfill several roles within the agricultural department, from organizing a Holland Pavilion at the fairs to keeping you updated via this website.
