Reno LLC is a potato processing company located in Hostomel, the suburbs of Kyiv, Ukraine. Its production facilities have been severely damaged on the first days of full-scale war.
After a turbulent period, their factory had to be rebuilt to restart production. With a lot of resilience and perseverance, they made a fresh, new start. During this process, a new machine line for potato processing was installed. With the help of a contribution from the DHI subsidy from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Marcelissen was able to supply Reno LLC with a demonstration model of its peeling line with water conveyor.
Marcelissen had the right technology available to breathe new life into the company. A peeling line with water conveyor was a new setup that had not been installed at a customer before. With a capacity of no less than 3,000 kg, this machine is a significant upgrade compared to the previous machine at Reno LLC. In addition to this peeling line, various other machines were also installed in Ukraine:
The Drum Knife Peeler: For many years the standard for peeling and re-peeling potatoes and other root vegetables for many companies worldwide.
Screw conveyor: Ideal for the dosed transport of potatoes and other root vegetables.
Screw destoner: This destoner is essential for removing sand and stones.
Water buffer with discharge belt: For receiving and buffering (un)peeled products under water. This machine consists of a storage bunker with discharge belt and is used as a buffer in the production line.
Inspection belt: Flat reading belt for inspecting and reading processed cut end product.
Electronic weigher with water buffer: This automatic weighing machine is equipped with an electronic weighing system. The filling weight and other parameters can be set via a touchscreen. When the set weight is reached, the supply drag chain stops and the weigher is ready to unload into a bag or bucket.
Installation of the machines required good preparation. Under the supervision of Technical Director Sjoerd Treuen, the line was installed by the Reno LLC team. Maintenance for this machine is done remotely. From the location in Venlo, Marcelissen follows the machine and advises the customer on how to solve any problems in the best possible way. This saves a lot of travel time and allows the Reno LLC technical department to maintain the peeling line itself.
The peeling line enables Reno LLC to run their potato production in Kyiv at full speed. Ukraine is known as large potato producer in Europe, so the machines from Marcelissen seamlessly match the specific needs of the local market. In this way, the innovative technology not only offers a solution for the current challenges, but also lays the foundation for future growth. Although the company has ambitions to deliver internationally in the future, the focus is now on Ukraine and strengthening their position there. The investment made is an important step in restoring and expanding production capacity of Ukrainian company. This enables them to meet the increasing demand on local market.

Sergiy Zavgorodniuk from Reno LLC is also very pleased with the outcome of this project and the machine: "Thank you so much for the machines and guidance throughout the project. The machines perform great, also the ease of use of the control panel's interface is outstanding. The first production hours were successful and I am convinced this will continue!"
It almost goes without saying that the impact of this peeling line is enormous. It not only offers Reno LLC an impressive capacity expansion, but also enables them to explore new production possibilities. Processing potatoes on such a large scale is very unique in Ukraine.
The factory also operates as a demonstration environment for other potato processors from Ukraine. Companies from the region come by to view the advanced production line and experience all the possibilities. This opening not only creates opportunities for Reno LLC to share its expertise, but also inspires other players in the market. In this way, the factory serves as a center of development within the Ukrainian potato industry. It illustrates the solidarity within a country in difficult times.
