Highlights Agroberichten Buitenland is de wekelijkse nieuwsbrief van het LNV Attaché Netwerk. U wordt iedere week geattendeerd op nieuws, activiteiten en achtergrondinformatie van onze LAN teams die werkzaam zijn op de economische clusters van 62 Nederlandse ambassades en/of consulaten en van daaruit 77 landen bedienen. Ook zijn ze vertegenwoordigers voor Nederland bij internationale organisaties: EU in Brussel, FAO/WFP/IFAD in Rome en OESO in Parijs. EUROPE - Frankrijk: terugblik op World FIRA 2024 met NL paviljoen in Toulouse

Afgelopen februari vond de 8ste editie van World FIRA in Toulouse plaats. Tijdens deze beurs was er een uitgebreid Nederlands paviljoen, werden Nederlandse robots gedemonstreerd, conferenties gehouden met Nederlandse sprekers en werd ingegaan op de robot als oplossing voor agro-ecologische- en arbeidsvraagstukken. Op 29 mei worden in Lelystad plannen gesmeed voor verdere samenwerking tussen Nederland en Frankrijk op het gebied van robotica in de landbouw.

AFRICA - Ghana: launch of Soil Values program in West-Africa

The Directorate-General for International Cooperation (DGIS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, invests in the development of mechanisms for the sustainable management of soils, through its Soil Fertility Grant Program. IFDC and partners have been given the responsibility to address these soil fertility constraints and to achieve sustainable management of soil fertility in a way that contributes to ecologically sustainable improvements in food productivity and to increased resilience of small-scale food producers (arable and/or livestock farmers) in the Sahel.

Under the “Kansen voor Morgen” program of LNV, Wageningen Environmental Research conducted a study on the opportunities for organic agriculture in Uganda. The aim of the study is to find entry points for leveraging initiatives around organic agriculture in the country.

AMERICAS - Mexico: delay of ban on glyphosate

In 2023, the Mexican government published a decree that called the phase-out of the herbicide glyphosate and the elimination of genetically modified corn. The Mexican ban on glyphosate was expected to come into force on the 1st of April 2024. End of March though, President Lopez Obrador postponed this measure until further notice.

The Consulate General of the Netherlands in Chicago, in collaboration with Innovation Quarter and RVO, is proud to announce the launch of the Chicago AgriFood Scaleup Program 2024. ASIA - Vietnam: looking back on HortEx Vietnam 2024 with NL pavilion

From 13 – 15 March, 2024 the 6th International Exhibition & Conference for Horticultural and Floricultural Production and Processing Technology, the HortEx Vietnam 2024 took place. In the HortEx 2024, more than 30 Dutch companies participated. The Netherlands pavilion, organized by the agriculture team of the Netherlands Embassy in Vietnam, hosted 7 Dutch companies showcasing their sustainable horticulture innovations.
