In Mexico zet Nederland zich de komende jaren meer in op het tegengaan van ontbossing. Ook ondersteunt het de verduurzaming van kassenteelt, met kennis en technologie op het gebied van efficiënt omgaan met water, de inrichting van kassen en het gebruik van Artificial Intelligence (AI). In Cuba deelt Nederland kennis op het gebied van verzilting. Wendele van der Wiele is sinds een half jaar als LNV-raad gestationeerd op de Nederlandse ambassade in Mexico-Stad. ‘Duurzaamheid in de landbouw is net als in Nederland een van de grootste uitdagingen in Mexico,’ vertelt ze.

De BIOFACH, die elk jaar in Neurenberg plaats vindt, is de grootste vakbeurs voor biologische levensmiddelenproducten in Europa. Nederland was dit jaar vertegenwoordigd met een paviljoen, waar 16 Nederlandse bedrijven hun producten konden presenteren. Rond 35.000 bezoekers uit 128 landen maakten gebruik van de gelegenheid om zich te informeren over innovatieve en nieuwe producten uit de biologische sector.
