The Asia-Pacific Agri-Tech Expo & Forum
Asia-pacific agri-tech expo & forum
The Asia-Pacific Agri-Tech Expo & Forum was held this year from May 6–8 at the ICC Tainan (International Convention Center Tainan). Leading local distributors teamed up to showcase agricultural breakthroughs from top-tier Dutch brands, including Rijk Zwaan, Ridder Group, Fancom, Vostermans Ventilation, and MS Schippers. Additionally, several other Dutch brands were prominently featured at independent distributor booths, including Lely, Vencomatic, Dorest, MOBA, and VDL Jansen. The exhibits spanned advanced greenhouse horticulture, animal health and welfare systems, and environmentally sustainable smart farming equipment.
Throughout the expo, the Dutch pavilion attracted a substantial volume of professional buyers. Representatives from the participating Dutch brands spoke positively of the event, sharing positive feedback and expressing firm confidence in further cultivating the Taiwanese market and forging long-term bilateral connections.

Taipei Food Show 2026
Taipei food show
Following the Tainan event, the Taipei Food Show took center stage at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from June 24–27. This year, the Dutch Pavilion focused on premium Dutch food products and ingredients. The exhibition attracted over 40,000 domestic and international trade buyers and visitors, with the Dutch booths experiencing a continuous stream of foot traffic.
The exhibitor lineup remained robust, featuring brands such as Beemster cheese, Douwe Egberts coffee beans, de Zaan cocoa powder, Farm Frites potato products, Royal Swinkels beer, Bavaria 0.0 non-alcoholic beer, and Oliehoorn fries sauces.
Taiwan’s agricultural transformation: data-driven transitions and climate resilience challenges
Entering 2026, Taiwan’s agriculture and food sectors are undergoing a structural transformation. Buffeted by the dual challenges of intensifying climate change and an aging labor force, traditional, experience-based farming is rapidly giving way to data-driven approaches and precision management. The industry's urgent priority has shifted from merely increasing yields to deploying AI monitoring, automated equipment, and sensor networks to build highly adaptable "resilient agriculture" capable of withstanding climate volatility.
Against this backdrop, the Taiwan government's active implementation of the Pathway to Net-Zero Emissions in 2050 has turned low-carbon, highly circular "green agriculture" and "carbon recycling technologies" into a new blue ocean for investment. Simultaneously, Taiwan’s livestock and food processing industries are at an inflection point of full-chain modernization—ranging from upstream smart climate control and precision animal nutrition to downstream process automation, and comprehensive modern cold chain logistics. All these segments urgently require integrated technologies that align with international export standards. In greenhouse horticulture, faced with threats to food security from extreme weather, adopting precision irrigation technologies to reduce labor costs and build smart greenhouses has become a core focus for industry, government, and academia.
Looking ahead: deep convergence and business opportunities in Dutch-Taiwanese smart tech
Moving forward, key potential opportunities for Dutch companies in the Taiwanese market lie in the following areas:
- Precision carbon reduction and circular livestock technology: Implementing low-carbon livestock farm designs and high-efficiency manure-to-resource technologies to empower modern Taiwanese farms to achieve international-standard carbon reduction goals while improving animal welfare.
- End-to-end smart cold chain and preservation processing: Introducing post-harvest handling, environmental monitoring, and cold chain logistics technologies to effectively extend shelf life and minimize transit losses, helping Taiwan's food industry align with stringent international compliance standards for fresh produce exports.
- Climate-resilient and automated vegetable supply chains: Addressing climate variability and severe labor shortages in the vegetable industry through climate-resilient crop varieties, smart management, facility cultivation, and mechanization. Furthermore, enhancing disaster resilience and supply stability through corporate farming structures, smart early-warning systems, and standardized workflows to build a sustainable, year-round vegetable supply chain.
- Agricultural robotics and automated harvesting systems: Deploying precision harvesting robots and smart sorting and packaging lines tailored for Taiwan's highly labor-intensive yet severely understaffed horticulture and food processing sectors.
There are subsidies available from the Taiwanese government in certain sectors, such as the Agriculture and Food Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, provides funding subsidies of up to 50% for covering structural steel-frame greenhouses and net houses, heat-resistant cooling equipment, and automated environmental control and irrigation facilities. As for livestock sector, a variety of subsidy programs for automated and labor-saving equipment have been launched, offering a maximum of EUR 57,000 per farm. Furthermore, if the project includes the modernization and upgrading of poultry houses, the maximum subsidy can reach up to EUR 285,000.
