PSD focuses on local SMEs, the business environment and fair value chains. PSD projects connect partners, projects and policy goals in Ukraine. The current projects are in the priority area for the Dutch-Ukrainian cooperation: EU-integration, agro education, food production, dairy & potato production and processing etc. This sectors have significant importance for the resilience of Ukrainian agriculture and food security in the area.

One of the factors that underpins food security is the creation of strong local businesses. In Ukraine like in many countries, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the food system. They process, transport and sell food. They create jobs and keep local markets running.

That is why The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl)  invests in private sector development (PSD). In simple terms: helping local businesses grow in a way that is sustainable and fair.

The approach of the RVO within the PSD program is in connecting knowledge, funding and partners aimed at building stronger value chains, improving their businesses, and creating opportunities for others.

This has a direct impact on food security. When local businesses grow, food systems become more reliable. People have jobs, incomes and better access to food. At the same time, it creates opportunities for Dutch organisations and businesses to share knowledge, build partnerships and explore new markets.
