The Embassy, in collaboration with PT Surveyor Indonesia, jointly organized a Technical Seminar on System Integration and Digital Readiness for Supporting the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) Implementation in Indonesia on 2–3 December 2025 in Jakarta.
The two-day seminar was convened to assess Indonesia’s digital readiness in meeting EUDR requirements and built on the long-standing EU–Indonesia cooperation under the FLEGT Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA), including the successful experience of digital integration between Indonesia’s SVLK system, the EU’s TRACES platform, and the Dutch CLIENT Import system. Bringing together representatives from Indonesian ministries, technical agencies, system developers, and international partners, the seminar provided a forum to exchange perspectives on system interoperability, regulatory alignment, and future cooperation.

The discussions focused on understanding the current state of Indonesian digital systems relevant for EUDR compliance, assessing possibilities for integration with EU and Dutch import systems, and identifying both technical and institutional gaps, particularly related to geolocation data, legality verification, and Due Diligence Statements (DDS).
After remarks from Joost van Uum, Agriculture Counselor of the Embassy and Sandry Pasambuna, President Director of PT Surveyor Indonesia, was series of presentation and discussions.
From the Netherlands side, Lex Moret, Development and Management e-CertNL, Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA), shared experiences on the development and operation of an integrated cross-border inspection system in the Netherlands, offering insights into digital interoperability and data exchange in support of EU regulatory compliance. Indonesian perspectives were presented by 1) Dr. Dheny Trie Wahyu Sampurno, S.Si., M.Eng, Director of Atlas and Geospatial Information Use at Geospatial Information Agency; 2) Martinus Nata Sutejo, Sustainability Project Director at PT Surveyor Indonesia; 3) Ahmad Kahfi, Team Leader of Foreign and Domestic Trade Data Development at the Ministry of Trade; and 4) Fery Heriyadi, Expert from the Directorate of Forest Product Processing and Marketing at the Ministry of Forestry.
Key takeaways from the seminar included the ongoing development by PT Surveyor Indonesia of an integrated digital platform intended to respond to EUDR requirements and its interest in establishing connections with EU official systems. Participants also noted the regulatory complexity within Indonesia, as well as the need for further clarification on the exact set of documents required by the EU under the EUDR framework. In addition, Indonesia’s introduction of Sustainable Jurisdiction Indicators (SJI) as a district-level risk assessment tool covering environmental, socio-economic, and governance aspects was discussed as a potentially relevant reference for EUDR risk assessment.
The seminar concluded with a shared understanding on the importance of conducting a dry run of the platform currently under development, exploring technical options for connecting it with EU systems, strengthening the integration of legality evidence, and continuing dialogue on document clarification and regulatory alignment as a basis for future cooperation between the Netherlands and Indonesia in 2026 and beyond.
