Overview of the Ukrainian Berry Market — 2024

Ukrainian producers offer a wide range of wild and cultivated berries. Frozen raspberries lead in export growth, blueberry exports are expanding significantly, and production of strawberries and currants remains.

2024, Ukraine exported a record 65,000 tons of frozen raspberries, making the country a world leader in net exports of this product. Blueberry exports in 2024 reached 5,000 tons, an increase of approximately 33% compared to the previous year. According to industry and trade data: Exports of frozen fruits and berries from Ukraine in 2024 totaled around 100,58 tons, indicating significant growth in the sector. Fresh berry exports (e.g., strawberries, currants, raspberries) remain much smaller in volume compared to frozen berries. Comprehensive data combining fresh and frozen exports for all berry types in 2024 are less consistently published.

Regarding production: Raspberry production in Ukraine in 2024 is estimated at 65,000–70,000 tons annually, including household and unregistered production. Blueberry production is also growing, supported by export volumes of approximately 5,000 tons. Other trends: Almost all exported raspberries are shipped in frozen form; fresh exports are minimal or niche. The blueberry market is experiencing both volume growth and higher export prices. In 2024, Ukraine’s blueberry exports generated approximately $26 million, an increase of 56% compared to the previous year.
