Prospects for 2025/2026
Cezar Gheorghe, a prominent grain market analyst, recently announced at a trading event in Cairo, Egypt, that Romania will have a record wheat production this year, of between 13.3 and 14 million tons. Egypt is the largest buyer of Romanian wheat.
Although the estimates for this year’s spring crops were very optimistic, in some regions of Romania (such as the south west) it has not rained in a very long period and farmers without irrigation in those regions estimate total losses for crops sown this spring. However, overall, the total output estimate for spring crops this year remains above the one of last year.
