FPV drones cause the majority of losses among personnel. Based on the statistics of some Ukrainian units it can reach up to 80% of all losses. In modern warfare, there is a constant competition between the means of attacking and the means of counteraction. It often happens that against the most high-tech technologies the means of last centuries work the best: deep dugouts, natural fortifications, protective constructions with nets etc. Thinking outside the box helps to safe civilians, infrastructure but also personnel and ammunition. The 5 R's of sustainability are Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle brought together the needs of Ukrainian army and capacity of the volunteers from all over the Europe.

Solutions from floriculture

Early this year the tulip nets that are typically used for planning of the tulip bulbs in autumn are collected during harvesting of the bulbs in summer, have been tested against kamikadze drones. After proving their efficiency are now widely used to protect civil infrastructure and positions of Ukrainian defenders.

Both types of nets are a valuable resource for Ukraine. The nets are currently supplied to Ukraine by charity organizations on the request of Ukrainian Ministry of Defence and units of various combat arms of Ukrainian army. Constantly increasing threat from russian drones require more resources for arranging logistics for net supply.
