The first agricultural technopark in the field of organic farming in the region is being created in Kazakhstan on the basis of the Scientific and Production Centre of Grain Farming named after Barayev. This was announced by Vice Minister of Agriculture Baghlan Bekbauov, speaking at a meeting of Ministers of agriculture of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), which was held in Kyrgyzstan.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, special attention was paid to the development of organic agriculture at the meeting, as it is one of the strategically important areas in the context of global challenges. According to Baglan Bekbauov, Kazakhstan is consistently developing this area, and has already achieved significant results.

By the end of 2024, the country has certified more than 300 thousand hectares of land for organic farming. The main export markets of organic products are the EU countries: Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland. Kazakhstan exports organic wheat, lentils, chickpeas and oilseeds.

European certificate of conformity

Kazakhstan has adopted the law on the production and turnover of organic products, which regulates the development of the industry at the legislative level. A voluntary guarantee system (VGS) has been introduced for small farmers, based on the experience of Kyrgyzstan. A Roadmap for the development of organic agriculture for 2024-2025 has been developed and is being implemented. The state provides for subsidizing up to 50% of the cost of certification of organic production. The region's first agricultural technopark in the field of organic farming is being created on the basis of the SPC after Barayev, who will receive a European certificate of conformity this year.

"We are ready to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the OTG and strengthen joint work to promote organic products on the markets of the member countries, harmonize standards and requirements in the field of organics, exchange advanced technologies, and train and retrain personnel," the Vice Minister said.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a joint communique in which they confirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in the agricultural sector, especially in the field of organic farming.
