  • The grain production continued to increase. The planting area of grain was 119 million hectares. The total output is 706 million tons. The soybean planting area was stable. The meat production in 2024 was 97.7 million tons, an increase of 0.2% over the previous year. Aquatic products increased by 3.5%, milk production decreased by 2.8%, while vegetable and fruit production continued to grow.

  • Grain and soybean production continue to increase, pork production is increasing slightly. The beef and dairy production is adjusted and are expected to decrease by 3.7% and 1.5%. Aquatic products production increased by 1%, and vegetable and fruit production continues to grow.
  • Agricultural product consumption is growing slowly and is becoming more diverse. The grain consumption is increasing slighly, poultry and aquatic products consumption also continue to increase, but the growth rate slowed down. Beef and dairy consumption is decreasing.
  • The import of bulk agricultural products such as grain, soybeans, cotton, and sugar decreased. Vegetable and fruit export continues to grow, and aquatic product export is decreasing.

Forecast of agricultural production, consumption, import and export for the next ten years (from 2025 to 2034)

  • Soybeans: local production is expected to continue to increase, import will gradually decrease to 9.03 million tons in 2034, with an average annual decrease of 2.2%.
  • Vegetables: the area of facility vegetables/ greenhouses will increase, as well as the yield. Both import and export will increase slightly.
  • Potatoes: the overall production and consumption will increase.
  • Fruit: production and consumption will increase steadily. The import and export trade volume wil expand. It is estimated that by 2034, fruit consumption will reach 347 million ton, and import will grow at an average annual rate of 7.3%.
  • Pork: production and consumption will steadily decline, with consumption declining with an average annual of 0,4%. Import will decrease to 500.000 tons, a decrease of 5.5% compared to 2024.
  • Poultry: the growth rate of both production and consumption will slow down. China will become a net exporter. Expected is that poultry consumption will expand, reaching 29.54 million tons in 2034, with an average annual growth of 1.3%. Due to sufficient supply of domestic products. import will gradually decrease. It is estimated that the import volume will be 900.000 tons in 2034, with an average annual decrease of 2.9%.
