Building on the historic adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework at COP15, the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16), held in Colombia in 2024, marked a critical transition from ambition to action. The focus shifted to concrete implementation—highlighting the need for financial resource mobilization, capacity-building, strengthened biodiversity monitoring systems, and the development of national-level action plans. COP16 also reinforced the importance of international collaboration, science-policy integration, and cross-sectoral partnerships in driving meaningful, on-the-ground results. In this context, we, together with the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, are organizing the China- the Netherlands biodiversity seminar - conservation practice and action outlook after COP16.

The seminar will bring together policymakers, researchers, private sector representatives, and international organizations to explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of biodiversity.

The seminar will facilitate policy and research exchanges, enhance awareness of biodiversity challenges and solutions, and explore practical opportunities for collaboration. The seminar will focus on sustainable agriculture, urban and rural greening and corporate biodiversity strategies. The event seeks to showcase how Sino-Dutch partnerships can contribute to global biodiversity goals through joint innovation, shared knowledge, and coordinated action.
