Agricultural Frosts Hits Türkiye : One of the Harshest on Record
Türkiye recently endured one of its harshest agricultural frost in 36 provinces Across Türkiye, products such as grapes, figs, apples, plums, cherries, hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, peaches, persimmons, especially apricots, were affected by agricultural frost caused by snowfall and cold weather in April.

Most severe frost in Türkiye since 2014
Türkiye has been hit by one of the most severe agricultural frosts in recent memory, with temperatures dropping significantly between April 10 and 12.
“Such unfavorable weather circumstances led to one of the largest agricultural frost occurrences in our history, coming after the major agricultural frost event in 2014 ” Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumaklı said in a post on his social media account.
Temperatures in some regions dropped as low as minus 15 degrees Celsius during this period, marking the coldest weather recorded in the last 30 years in certain areas, he noted.
Indeed, even the capital Ankara witnessed heavy snowfall in the past days, while the weather temperatures in other provinces fluctuated, including Istanbul, which was under the influence of a cold snap from the Baltic and Europe.
"As a result of these adverse weather conditions, we, unfortunately, experienced one of the biggest agricultural frost events in our history after the great agricultural frost event of 2014," Yumaklı further said, wishing all producers and farmers a speedy recovery.
"As the ministry, we have been in the field and with our producers 24/7 for days to minimize the negative impact. All our teams continue their detection work," he added.
