The first intergovernmental conference between Ukraine and Netherlands and the second Ukrainian-Dutch Agricultural Dialogue (UANLAD) took place in Lviv, Ukraine.
On Saturday 12th of April 2025, the first intergovernmental conference between Ukraine and Netherlands was held in Lviv. The conference marked a historic moment in the bilateral relationship between the two nations, which will continue to serve as an annual platform for exchange going forward. Now dubbed the “Lviv Conference”, its main focus was in Ukraine’s EU integration, with agriculture as one of the four main topics of exchange.
At the agriculture table, the Ukrainian ministry for Agrarian policy and LVVN exchanged on the state of play regarding Ukraine’s EU integration and accession process, the impact of the Russian war of aggression and future areas of cooperation. Current examples of collaboration between the countries in the field of agriculture were also highlighted, showing the good working relationship between the countries. A concrete deliverable was the signing of a joint statement, paving the way for future cooperation and reaffirming the good relationship and continued support for Ukraine. We hope to continue these discussions next year, in the Netherlands.

LTO visit to Ukraine, group photo with UNAF members
Parallel to the Lviv conference, a delegation from the Netherlands Agricultural and Horticultural Association. (LTO) visited Lviv for a two day programme on 11-12 April. Centre stage during their two day visit was the second Ukraine - The Netherlands Agricultural Dialogue (UANLAD). The UANLAD was co-organized by the Ukrainian National Agricultural Forum (UNAF), with full support and encouragement of the ministries of agrarian policy of both countries. The second UANLAD session was co-chaired by Ms. Maria Didukh, Director General, UNAF, and Mr. Hans Van den Heuvel, Director General, LTO.

Following an earlier exchange that took place in November 2024 in Den Bosch, the second session revolved around the integration of Ukrainian agriculture in the EU Internal Market. The parties shared their views on expected effects and outcomes of the integration of the Ukrainian agrifood sector on the European - including the Dutch - agrifood sectors. The participants discussed the pace and quality of implementation of EU production standards for plant and animal health and animal welfare in Ukraine and cooperation in tackling the spread of animal diseases.
UNAF and LTO published a statement in which they confirmed to continue the exchange of knowledge on the implementation of EU legislation in Ukraine.
