Poland: PIB Soil Quality again present at AgroShow Bednary
This is the second year of PIB project on improving soil quality in Poland. The project consists of a consortium of Dutch companies who are, with support of the Dutch government, working together in Poland. Part of the project is the joined participation in exhibitions, as well as a visit to the Netherlands of relevant Polish stakeholders.
Agroshow Bednary 20-22 September 2024
One of the largest agricultural fairs in Poland - the Bednary AgroShow - is behind us. There were 670 exhibitors on 130 000 m2, including 100 from abroad and Pavilion NL, where a group of companies that are part of PIB Soil Improvement presented their technologies and machinery. For 25 years, the Agro Show has witnessed great changes in Polish agriculture. Once a tiny event, today it is one of the largest in Europe. This year, producers and dealers are facing less interest. The market is down 30 - 40 percent compared to the days just after the pandemic. Considering the number of visitors - about 90 000 visitors attended the show this year, a similar result to last year, it's probably not that bad.
The fair was officially opened by the Polish Ministry of Agriculture, Czesław Siekierski. During the Agro Show in Bednary he announced aid for farmers whose farms suffered in the flood (Southern and Western Poland is struggling with flooding and its effects, which also affects farmers), and the issue of supporting farmers in the event of sudden natural disasters was one of the most important topics of discussion at AgroShow.
Strong representation of Dutch companies within the PIB Soil Quality
Presented at the fair were, among others, an RGB hyperspectral camera, a cultivation machine - a grader for fields, as well as wood chipping cultivation machines for forest and agricultural areas, an agricultural weather station and a profile soil moisture sensor, or a mobile soil sensor with a variable dose application system or membranes for biogas storage.
This is the third event this year in Poland at which PIB Soil Improvement representatives are currently present. Earlier, in March, the group presented itself at an agricultural fair in Kielce, showing its offerings to farmers from central and southern Poland. And right after that, in June, some of the companies presented the capabilities of the machines near Slupsk at demo fields.
The PIB Soil Improvement Poland group consists of Agriwatch, BOS, Farmax, Homburg, Protix, Rinagro, RMA, Zuidberg and is supported by the World Trade Center.
