Chicago – Innovating across the food value chain, from regenerative agriculture to consumers

Chicago sits at the heart of United States’ food value chain, with an impressive density of food, beverage and agricultural companies. They leverage the region’s vast transportation, distribution and logistics ecosystem to get their products to market. The large food companies that call Chicago home, such as McDonalds, ADM, and Mondelez, have begun incorporating regenerative agriculture programs in their strategies. This approach can help address critical issues such as climate change, soil degradation, and food security. And while education and awareness among farmers, policymakers, and consumers are critical to the success of regenerative agriculture, the multinational food companies are the key. The industry must work together to ensure a more sustainable and resilient future for agriculture and food.
