Bulgaria’s Grain Academy is back with prominent lecturers including a Dutch expert

After a year of a COVID19 break the Grain Academy is back: the 5th edition of the conference will be held in the in the Golden Sands resort in the coastal town of Varna on September 30, 2021 (Thursday). For the 1-st time the Grain Academy is partnering with the Netherlands’ Embassy in Bulgaria.


The previous editions - with over 950 participants from 25 countries and over 49 first-class lecturers from around the world  -  made the Grain Academy as one of the most prestigious international agri forums in Bulgaria. 
 

The Academy

Grain Academy has been found in 2016 as the first of its kind grain conference in the Balkans region and held in Varna, Bulgaria. Over the years, it became a well-established forum for analytics, discussions and meetings on the regional and local grain and oilseeds markets. First-class speakers and analysts from some of the most prestigious analytical agencies are precondition for interesting debates among the numerous companies attending this unique event from around the region and all over Europe. The Academy is a meeting point of the leading companies and experts on the grain market. Participants from the whole industry and related businesses each year have the opportunity to meet and obtain the latest information and to discuss the up-to-date trends in the markets of cereals and oilseeds. Trade companies from the Balkans and beyond, branches of multinational corporations, farmers, millers, crushers, forwarders, surveyors, charterers, industry associations and etc. meet each year at the Grain Academy event.
 

The speakers

The conference programme of the 2021 editions includes many interesting guest speakers from the Balkans and Europe: the Netherlands, Turkey, Romania, Ukraine and Bulgaria.

Global Grain & Oilseed Outlook: Market Impact and Structural Change is the topic of the presentation of Dutch expert Stefan Vogel who will is planning to highlight the role of Bulgaria and the Black Sea Region in a world of rising import needs.

Stefan Vogel is global Sector Strategist, Grains & Oilseeds within the Netherlands’Rabobank’s Food & Agribusiness Research (RaboResearch F&A).

He has a wealth of market research and corporate strategy experience and is responsible for fundamental market analysis and price forecasting of agri commodities. In addition, as Global Sector Strategist, Grains & Oilseeds he leads the bank’s research in this sector and advises clients on sector trends and strategic implications. Prior to joining Rabobank Stefan has worked in different agricultural market research and strategy positions, including Head of Economics Department of ADM Germany (former Toepfer International) and Director of Market Research & Business Analytics of Archer Daniels Midland in the US. Stefan also was Vice President of the European Grain Trading association and a member of the EU Commission’s Expert Group on Agricultural Commodity Derivatives and Spot Markets. Stefan holds a Diploma (equivalent to Master’s Degree) in Agricultural Economics from the University of Giessen in Germany.
