Romania: Lactalis Working on Preparing RO Plants for Export
A President-branded product of the Lactalis group made in the Sfantu Gheorghe facility in Romania has been exported to 38 countries and export is one of the main goals for the plants the group has in the country, even though it is not significant at the moment.
“Export is not significant in the group at the moment, but my target is to prepare the plants to become an important operator at least in Southeast Europe,” said Giampaolo Manzonetto, CEO of Lactalis Romania.
When the group bought the Covalact and Albalact plants, the facilities were already operating at capacity. Lactalis has been steadily investing in boosting production capacity and quality management since 2017, to bring them up to the Lactalis quality standards and slowly develop export, the official added.
Lactalis Romania invested up to EUR10 milion in production capacity, fleet and IT infrastructure in 2020, and will invest even more in 2021, the CEO says.
