Successful Trade Mission to Mekong Delta, Vietnam
The Mekong Delta in Vietnam was part of the South East Asian Trade mission last year. A specific week was focused on the Mekong Delta, existing of 4 webinars and a Mekong Delta Business Event in HCMC. In this article we are happy to reflect on some key outcomes of this mission. Business opportunities and Mekong Delta Business Forum

During the Trade Mission an LoI has been signed by the joint Top Sectors (Agro-Food, Horticulture, Water and Logistics) with The Netherlands Embassy in Hanoi and the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to establish a Mekong Delta Business Forum to support Vietnamese and Netherlands business cooperation. We hope to inform you soon to further outline how you can benefit from this platform. We specific website will be developed for this purpose.

- Mekong Delta Business Event was held on 25 January 2021 to give an overview of all the Netherlands agro-water-logistics activities in the Mekong Delta. And to launch several new initiatives, amongst others the Mekong Delta Business Forum. - In preparation to the trade mission the Netherlands Embassy has organized an Agro-Water Contest to call for new innovative concept for agro-water solutions. Further background
The Netherlands and Vietnam are working together already for decades on the climate change effects in the Mekong Delta. A Resolution on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Development of the Mekong Delta of Viet Nam has been approved based on the Mekong Delta Plan developed in 2013 by The Netherlands. This resolution foreseen in a severe agricultural transformation based on sustainable value chain development.
In 2019 the prime ministers of Vietnam and The Netherlands have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on further cooperation in the Mekong Delta by developing an Agricultural Transformation Program to steer and coordinate the process. This transformation should mainly be private sector driven and provides business opportunities for Netherlands in agriculture, water, circular economy and (agro)logistics.
The Netherlands Embassy tries to further facilitate the business opportunities in close cooperation with the joint Top Sectors.
