State support of potato growing in Ukraine

Next year, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture plans to launch two new areas of state support for the agro-industrial complex, in particular, a program to support the production of niche crops and potato growing.

KYIV. Aug 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Next year, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture plans to launch two new areas of state support for the agro-industrial complex, in particular, a program to support the production of niche crops and potato growing.

According to the concept of agrarians support for 2021-2023 presented by the ministry at the Agro-2020 exhibition in Kyiv on Tuesday, according to the optimistic forecast, in general, state support for the agro-industrial complex (for all programs) next year may grow to UAH 8.44 billion with an increase to UAH 8,99 billion by 2023 against UAH 4 billion allocated from the budget this year.

Under the livestock support program, in particular, in 2021, UAH 3.64 billion may be allocated, financial support for agricultural activities (loans, insurance) - UAH 2.25 billion, partial compensation for the cost of agricultural equipment - UAH 957 million, support of farming - UAH 727 million, support for horticulture, viticulture and hop growing - UAH 414 million, support for the production of niche crops (food security) - UAH 295 million, and potato growing - UAH 160 million.
