Shiraka Training Programme - Water Management Course

it is now possible to register for the Shiraka Training Programme (STP) course ‘Water Management’. Applications should be made online before 19 April 2020.

STP Course Profile

1. Civil servants working on the following topics:

  • Integrated water resources management;
  • Transboundary water management;
  • Water scarcity.

2.  Civil servants working on projects in fields related to:

  • Climate change;
  • Land use planning;
  • Food security with a strong focus on water management.

3. Civil servants managing infrastructure projects on:

  • Irrigation;
  • Wastewater and sewage management;
  • Water re-use;
  • Drinking water.

3. Participants must be aware that this is not an engineering or technical training. Therefore, their learning goals should reflect those of the course, which are:

  • Reinforcing and developing knowledge and understanding of Water Management theories and concepts;
  • Providing insight regarding Integrated Water Management and socio-economic development;
  • Promoting practical skills, such as change management, presentation skills and working in teams;
  • Increasing knowledge on Dutch and Middle East and North African practise in the field of Water Management;
  • Stimulating cooperation between the Netherlands and the Arab region as well as intraregional cooperation;
  • Providing participants with the opportunity to develop a valuable network with other civil servants in the region and the Netherlands.

4. The participants should not have participated in other Shiraka or Matra-South Training Programmes.

Please note that the course is not relevant for very junior or very senior civil servants. Civil servants who did not get the opportunity to participate in trainings outside of their countries are encouraged to apply. Females and civil servants with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
