Ukraine increases exports of agroproducts by 19% in 2019

Exports of agri-food products from Ukraine amounted to $22.2 billion in 2019

KYIV. Feb 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Exports of agri-food products from Ukraine amounted to $22.2 billion last year, which is 19% more than in 2018, the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) has reported on its website.

According to its data, imports of these products in 2019 increased 14%, to $5.7 billion.

"In 2019, the share of agri-food products of the structure of total exports from Ukraine amounted to 44% (versus 39% in 2018), while in the import structure – 10% (versus 9% in 2018)," the UCAB said.

According to the association, in the commodity structure of exports, the largest increase was in deliveries of crop products from Ukraine by 31%, or $3 billion. The share of crop production exports of the overall structure of agricultural exports amounted to 58%.

"The increase in the supply of crop products was due to an increase in the export of corn by 49%, or $1.7 billion. The export of finished food products increased 7%, or by $202.9 million. The supplies of soybean meal increased the most in this category – by 89%, or $143.9 million," the UCAB said.

In the commodity structure of imports, purchases of finished products increased by $279.4 million (12%) thanks to the purchase of tobacco and bakery products. Crop production imports grew by $265.9 million (17%) thanks to imports of potatoes and citrus fruits, livestock products – by $153.5 million (17%) thanks to the purchase of cheese and frozen and fresh (chilled) fish.
