Bulgaria: Average Price of Agricultural Land Up by 7.9% in 2018, Y/Y

In 2018, the average price of agricultural land in Bulgaria reached 9,410 leva per hectare, up by 7.9 per cent from 2017, the National Statistical Institute said on Wednesday. Year-on-year, the price of arable land increased by 12.6 per cent and the price of permanent grassland decreased by 16.8 per cent.

In 2018, the highest price of agricultural land was in the Northeast (13,450 leva per hectare). A year-onyear increase of the price of agricultural land was reported in North Central Bulgaria, up by 39.5 per cent, and in South Central Bulgaria, up by 22.7 per cent. The price of land in the Southeast remained almost unchanged from 2017, with a slight increase of 0.8 per cent. In 2018, the price of agricultural land dropped by 53.4 per cent in the Southwest, by 4.5 per cent in the Northwest and by 4 per cent in the Northeast.

In 2018, the average rent price of rented/leased agricultural land reached 480 leva/hectare, up by 4.3 per cent from 2017. The price of arable land went up by 6.4 per per cent, year-on-year, and the price of permanent grassland remained the same. In 2018, the highest price of rented/leased land was in the Northeast (690 leva/ hectare). There was a year-on-year increase of the rent price in all statistical regions with the exception of South Central Bulgaria.
