Ministry of Agriculture Ukraine plans to permit compensations for purchase of refrigerators

Ukraine's Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry plans to permit compensations to agricultural cooperatives for purchase of refrigerators for berries and fruits, the ministry's press service has reported.

According to the press service, the Cabinet of Ministers will consider the appropriate changes in the rules of using funds on government support to the agricultural and industrial complex in the near future.

According to the ministry's estimates, 96% of areas with berries in 2018 were laid out thanks to the government support program. Their total area was 902 hectares. The program to support gardening in 2019 provides UAH 400 million.

According to the ministry, in 2018 berries production reached 132,900 tonnes in all categories of farms, of which only 15,300 tonnes in agricultural enterprises. The leaders among the berries are strawberries (62,300 tonnes), raspberries (35,600 tonnes) and currants (29,600 tonnes). Ukraine exports fresh berries to Belarus, Poland, Moldova, the U.K. and the Netherlands, frozen ones to the EU countries.

The area with organic berries in Ukraine amounted to 737.8 hectares, the gross yield was over 3,300 tonnes.
